Event Details

Islander Alumni from across the Houston-area are invited to join University President Kelly M. Quintanilla for a lively evening and candid presentation about the past, present and future of the Island University. President Quintanilla will discuss recent campus expansion including the dedication of Tidal Hall, the University’s current state of cutting-edge research and innovation, recent campus achievements including the announcement of the R2 designation by Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, and an insight on the future strategic direction of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Attendees will also hear from the Alumni Association Executive Director, Russell Wagner ’08, on the current state of the organization and future plans for Alumni programming and expansion.

The morning will begin with cocktails and a brunch-style buffet at 10:00am, along with the opportunity to network with fellow Islanders. The program will begin promptly at 11:00am.

Though this event is complimentary, RSVPs are required using the button below and attendees are limited to one guest each. Due to facility limitations, all guests and attendees must be 18 and older.

    Kelly M. Quintanilla

    President & CEO

    Kelly M. Quintanilla assumed the role of President of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in August 2017. She previously served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. She earned her Ph.D. in Communication from Pennsylvania State University in 1994, joining the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi faculty that same year. She is active in the community, serving as a board member for the Art Museum of South Texas, the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra, the South Texas Botanical Gardens and the Harbor Playhouse. Prior to becoming Provost, Quintanilla served as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Director of the School of Arts, Media & Communication, as well as Chair for the Department of Communication and Theatre. She was a professor of communication for 16 years, teaching courses in Business & Professional Communication, Teamwork & Leadership, Organizational Communication, Public Relations and Public Speaking. Additionally, Quintanilla worked as a consultant and corporate trainer in the Coastal Bend. Clients include: HEB, CHRISTUS Spohn, CCISD, the City of Corpus Christi, CCAD, the Port, the YWCA, to name a few. Over the years, Quintanilla has received awards for her teaching, service, advising, and scholarship. Although she loves her many academic roles, her favorite role is being mom to Logan, her teenage daughter.

    Executive Director

    Russell Wagner is the Executive Director of the Islander Alumni Association at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. In this role, he oversees and implements all alumni relations and engagement efforts with the community to create financial, personnel, and athletic support for the Association and University. The TAMU-CC Alumni Association has seen rapid expansion under Wagner’s helm, with a major increase in programing, chapter involvement, events, revenue and have one of the fastest-growing ring traditions in the country, with the fourth highest sales in the state of Texas. He is a proud Islander alumnus and earned his degree in Media Communication and received a minor in Public Relations in 2008, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He later earned his Masters of Arts in Public Relations from Kent State University in 2014.
