ISLANDER MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
The Islander Alumni Association, in partnership with TAMU-CC’s Career Services department, have developed the Islander Mentorship Program. In this program, Islander Alumni will be assigned a current student nearing graduation and will meet with them either online or in person regularly offering guidance and support.

HOW IT WORKS
We’ll match Alumni and students one-on-one. We’ll do our best to pair individuals based upon college, major, career interest, potential post-graduation geographic and destination.
Applications for Alumni Mentors will close on July 30th. At that point, we will apply a compatibility matrix to applicants, and then pair mentor to mentee for the greatest match possible. All individuals will be required to attend an event kick-off on Thursday, September 16th. The program for Fall 2021 will last through December 2021.
Each mentorship pair will be required to have at least one meaningful (one-hour) meeting each month. Pairs are encouraged to meet in person, text, zoom, email and correspond throughout the semester. Each pair will set goals that will provide a guide for these meetings.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
Mentors MUST be Alumni of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Applicants must also have either completed three or more years of professional experience after earning their first undergraduate degree, and (or in addition to) have graduated from TAMU-CC in 2018 or earlier.
Mentors will be selected for their wealth of real-world, occupational, and professional experience. If you do not meet this criteria, but would like to be more involved, we recommend you contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
